Welcome to the Energy Management System of Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality
The Nelson Mandela Bay Municpality has invested in a system allowing the meters of its larger commercial and industrial consumers to be read more regularly than the once-a-month scenario previously employed. This would enable the Municipality to improve the integrity of its metering installations in the sense that problems could be identified earlier.
Readings, once downloaded, would automatically be compared with that of previous similar periods in an attempt to validate data before using it for billing purposes. It has been decided, as a pilot project, to give customers whose meters are read as part of the above project, access to their information. Each customer’s information will be password protected.
The meter information could contribute to the following benefits for the consumer:
a) More economic use of electricity and corresponding lower maximum demands and cost;
b) Improved energy budgeting as a result of early billing data being available.

About ecWIN
ecWIN is a revolutionary and easy-to-use software suite for energy and load data analysis. It was developed by IST Otokon (Pty) Ltd. for the South African electrical power industry, but can also be used for other utilities and in other world regions.
The ecWIN 6 Suite consists of several modules for a complete integrated energy monitoring and energy information display solution, in combination with a metering system, utilising AMR (Automated Meter Reading) technology. With ecWIN you can set up, display and manage a site's energy resource information online, from anywhere in the world. A combination of automatic readings and hand inputs can be configured for a comprehensive energy cost model based on a site's seperate business units and electrical reticulation system.
Load consumption data and data trending can be viewed from an Internet browser using the eciQUEST module of this web site. System users can extract data, energy consumption enquiries and load profiles from the central data historian for load data analysis. Data of a user-specified range can be viewed for the specific integration period, daily or monthly intervals. eciQUEST also provides the tools to generate operational reports from the ecWIN historian including cost reports based on electricity consumption data.
Apart from this load data analysis and energy cost allocation, the ecWIN package can also be used for power quality analysis where the voltage, current, harmonics, sags, swells and other quality of supply parameters are recorded.
